so thanksgiving was a success!! My pumpkin pies were a hit, because a lot of people hadn't had it before and they LOVED IT. in addition, i created a chocolate chip cake with some chocoalte candies melted in that people absolutely LOVED as well. Also, blueberries aren't that popular here so some people had blueberry muffins for the first time and the banana nut and cornbread muffins that i made. Made me feel good giving people american food that they really enjoyed! THe feast was probably one of the hugest I"d ever seen!! There was so much food it was insane! Turkey, lots of types of potatoes, salads, a spanish dish (tortilla con patata) which is basically a huge fluffy omelet with potatoes but much better, stuffing, gravy, all the works and so we're all standing around the table, wanting to eat, wanting to eat, but not everyone was in the living room....so then FINALLY we're all there...everyone standing around with plate in one hand and fork in the other.....staring at the food and drooling...but then we're thinking 'do we say a prayer' ? Well there are muslims, jewish, cristians, and who knows what other religions so we'd have to be careful what to say. Jenn and I volunteer to say something..but what? "thank you pilgrims for killing the indians that helped to save your life?" yea, not all that good, so we decide to have 15 seconds of silence in which case all can think/pray to whatever they want to pray to....however....everyone is so excited about the food that no one really shutsup....and then someone starts a countdown....10, 9 8, 7 SIX, FIVE, FOUR THREE TWO ONE!!! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!! and then we all dig in....it was if these people hadn't eaten in days (and in all honesty i was fasting the 2 days before....i wanted to realllly enjoy the food) Then after we stuffed ourselves silly we had deserts (mainly pumpkin and apple pie) Then Reina (another UVM student) decided to help our food digest by doing yoga. Which the guys got a kick out of. Some of them hadn't really seen yoga before. So of course they got pictures. (pics will follow after i get copies from friends) Then instead of going out and partying and dancing (because we were all super full and tired) we played cards until about 4am. I tought them BS and the latin americans taught us 'mistake' . It was a lot of fun. A thanksgiving i will definately remember!!
